Testing & Measurement

Both measure electrical parameters, but in different ways. We break down the differences, use cases, and who typically needs each tool.
A multimeter is the more general tool for electronics work. It measures voltage, resistance, continuity, and current when connected in series.
A clamp meter measures current by clamping around a conductor, which is safer and faster for electrical panels and high-current circuits.
If you work mostly on boards and small circuits, start with a good multimeter. If you service motors, panels, or AC wiring, a clamp meter is worth adding.
